Okahandja Medical Centre Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

At Okahandja Medical Centre, our team is proudly joining the global fight against breast cancer. Today, our management and staff were asked to wear something pink to show solidarity and raise awareness for this important cause. By taking these small yet meaningful steps, we aim to inspire our community to be proactive about their health and to support those affected by breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Tips:

  1. Regular Screenings: Women aged 40 and older should schedule annual mammograms, while those under 40 with a family history of breast cancer should consult their doctor about starting screenings earlier.
  2. Self-Exams: Perform monthly breast self-exams to check for lumps, changes, or any irregularities. Early detection is critical, so noticing and acting on changes quickly can make a significant difference.
  3. Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Eating a balanced diet, staying active, and limiting alcohol intake can lower the risk of developing breast cancer.
  4. Know Your Risk Factors: Family history, genetics, and certain lifestyle factors can increase breast cancer risk. Speak with a healthcare provider to understand your personal risk profile and steps you can take to manage it.

Today, as we wear pink, we stand together with those affected by breast cancer and commit to spreading awareness in our community. Early detection saves lives, so let’s encourage our loved ones to stay informed and make regular check-ups a priority.
